Always deeply conceptual, and supremely well executed, the Bibhu Mohapatra runway show is always something to look forward to at New York Fashion Week. The Fall 2016 show was no exception, and this season Style Wylde went backstage before the show to get an up close look at the hair and beauty being created for Mohapatra's "haunting enigma of the Empress Dowager Cixi" inspired collection. The look, a dramatic red and gold eye, and a twisted double bun on the back of heads, was the perfect compliment to Mohapatra's elaborately detailed collection which featured luxe daywear pieces in deep hues and a breathtaking array of red-carpet ready gowns, all of which included elements that spoke to the iconic Asian inspiration for the collection, but with a throughly modern twist.
