The Christian Dada Spring 2016 show was surprisingly soft and feminine for designer Masanori Morikawa who, until now, has always remained more on the tough rock n' roll side of fashion, to the extent he previously did a collaboration with iconic rockers KISS for the Spring 2014 Tokyo runway show. While some of that sensibility remained with leather touches and studded details, the Spring 2016 collection had a new lightness and sophistication that was fantastic to see.

This lightness might have something to do with Morikawa's dual inspirations for the collection which he described as "childhood memories and the personal style of his current girlfriend." Whatever the reason, this change builds on a career that was already going strong due to Morikawa's obvious talent and creativity , but is now reaching new heights.
