Grunge inspired streetwear got a major avant-garde upgrade at the PLASTICTOKYO Fall 2016 show where multi-layered and oversized looks dominated the runway. Giant plays on volume and quirky details like fur trimmed sneakers were reminiscent of vintage Comme des Garcons, while the the more streamlined hoodies and track pants felt like a nod to American sportswear style. The overall effect was a stunning departure from last season's more gimicky show, which really proved that the brand is ready to move in a higher end, fashion forward direction, and that designer Keisuke Imazaki really has the chops to do it.
