Oboro (Japanese for hazy) a term that is most commonly associated with Spring in Japan when warm temperatures cause the fog to roll in and cast a dreamy mist around everything from city lights to the moon shining in the sky, was the starting point for the Matohu Fall 2016 collection, which showed on Tuesday night during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo. This translated to soft, almost indistinct, patterns that had a dreamy quality on voluminous silhouettes that seemed to float effortlessly around the models as they walked in a complicated pattern through actual fog that rolled down from the rafters in the venue. Many looks contained multiple layers in complimentary hues and were punctuated by hats, scarves, and sleek boots that brought a little edge to the otherwise soft collection. The overall effect was utterly pretty.
