Avant-garde designers Gabi Asfour, Angela Donhauser, and Adi Gil celebrated the tenth-anniversary of their label threeASFOUR on Monday night of New York Fashion Week with a bewitching retrospective Spring 2016 collection of highly conceptual pieces that seemed rooted in earth elements with geodes, and fossil-like skeletal images throughout the show.
As much a theatrical gift to the audience as it was a 'showcase to buyers', the runway presentation included a video by artist Alex Czetwertynski which was projected on the walls and floor on which the models walked, becoming the environment for the show. The video was so important to the concept of the show that before it began representatives from the brand approached the media riser and instructed photographers to "try to shoot the models while in the area of the projections, it should be as if we don't know where they are."
No easy feat for sure, especially when as photographer you want to be sure your readers can actually see the pieces, but who were we to argue with the design concept? The end result of this request, and our attempt to honor it, is below. We hope we did it justice, as it was truly beautiful to behold.
