90's grunge got a beautiful, sophisticated upgrade at the Georgine Spring 2017 runway show where Courtney Love inspired looks rocked down the runway to what had to be the best retro-rock soundtrack of the entire week (Hole, Sonic Youth, Garbage; you get the idea.) Punk rock plaids, safety pins, wildly-hued furs and plenty of 90's shine were woven through the collection in just the right amounts to suggest nostalgia without tipping over into the 'too much' category. As is always the case with designer Georgine Ratelband, impeccable construction and strict discipline when it comes to self-editing also played a part to keep the raucous collection in the luxury realm, and served to prove that when it comes to retro, Ratelband truly knows how to do it right.
