Classic Asian iconography collided with tons of rebellious attitude, and a healthy dose of punk rock whimsy at the Ground Zero Fall 2016 presentation which showed at Milk Studios on Sunday night. The talent for construction, and a well versed background in both fashion and graphic arts, on which the Hong Kong based design duo (and siblings) Eric and Philip Chu have built their brand was readily apparent as the collection contained an abundance of unique details such as hand crafted embroidery, giant safety-pin prints, deconstructed obi belts, and oversized "safety" glasses featuring the collection's reoccurring 'lucky cat with an attitude image'. In a New York season where, so far, optimism and youthful bravado seems to be in short supply, the Ground Zero Fall 2016 collection was not only refreshing to see, but just plain undeniably fun.
