A look for the Katya Leonovich Fall 2014 Collection/Image: C.Hope for Style Wylde

Over the past few seasons, Katya Leonovich has blossomed from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York "New Comer", to a major force in the gallery-meets-runway avant-garde style set. With a deft hand that always blends painterly prints, surprising construction elements and  a healthy dash  of tongue-in cheek inspiration (see Obama and Romney gowns below) Leonovich never fails to delight new and long-term fans of her label.

For the upcoming Spring 2015 Runway presentation that will be unveiled at Pier 59 on September 6th, Leonovich plans to build on this growing reputation for innovative and artful design and bump it up a notch, with an injection of serious fashion technology. As told to Style Wylde by the designer's reps:

"Katya Leonovich will be debuting utilizing 3D printing to construct a surprisingly pliable and wearable collection.  While pieces breated from 3D Printing have started to gain visibility with a small group of avant-garde designers, Leonovich is determined to create collections that are wearable and functional unlike her predecessors... in fact you can even throw Leonovich's 3D pieces into a washing machine."

"I wanted to utilize this innovation in a way that would be wearable to the fashion consumer. It is natural for artists to try to take a new technology to the limit when it is first introduced but I see it as a new construction method which is the future of everyday clothes."-- Katya Leonovich.

Sound interesting? We thought so too, so we were were even more thrilled to get a sneak peek sketch from the collection. (Pictured right)
