Whether it was the Courtney Love-inspiration, or the general sense of euphoria emanating from models and styling team members alike over it being the end of the long grueling haul of New York Fashion week, who's to say; but the atmosphere backstage at the Georgine Spring 2017 show was electrified with energy, creativity and a palpable sense of fun. And fun is essential when the teams are undertaking such a labor intensive look. On one side of the room, Charlie Price, lead stylist, and his Beauty Underground team showed off their true styling chops by first braiding models hair into tight scalp-clinging cornrows, to minimize bulk. They then cut each and every one of the custom-dyed wigs models would wear to give them a perfectly imperfect ""Courtney-bob." Wigs were then put on each model and cut again to best flatter model's features.
While this was going on, on the other side of the room Gordon Espinet and the pro team from MAC created a haute couture "messy beautiful" look that was said to be inspired by the idea of "a young woman discovering a chest of fabulous vintage clothes... she dresses up, but because she is young, the make-up is imperfect, with a bit of chunky mascara and a slightly blotted and smudged lip, but still fabulous."
And fabulous it was.
