At most runway shows the backstage area is a circus-melee of hair, make-up, and nail brands, tons of photographers, and the forever arriving-late-models who show up with the previous show's gear still on and require a complete shower before the new show's look can be created. All of this can make for a hectic, stressful, and completely insane environment.
But not at A Détacher. Season after season the team behind designer Mona Kowalska do the impossible, they create a dazzlingly peaceful prep space that is free of the usual insanity of fashion week. How do they do it? Simply, they work exclusively with the masters from Shiseido Japan on hair, make-up, and nails so the teams are all in sync, working together seamlessly, they limit the number of photographers backstage, and they keep their cool when models show up tardy (or with extensions glued in.)
This season, as in previous seasons, the Style Wylde team was honored to be invited backstage to get a little glimpse at the goings on before the show. Here are just a few of our favorite snaps taken backstage.
