Copenhagen: Barbara I Gongini Spring 2016

Known for her commitment to sustainably produced, gender-fluid fashion that is steeped in Nordic tradition, designer Barbara I Gongini's Spring 2016 show delivered a serious dark, post-apocalyptic vibe. Using deconstructed elements that were said to be inspired by the "rugged landscape, and the dark North Sea" the designer, who originally hails from the stunningly beautiful Faroe Islands, did a magnificent job of infusing her unique point of view into the collection. There was plenty to love among the pieces, but my personal favorites had to be the utterly destroyed knits that hit the sweet spot between sculpture and wearable art and the surprisingly optimistic stripes that appeared towards the end of the collection.
