New York: Timo Weiland Spring 2014

Sportswear has long been the strong suit of designers Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein of Timo Weiland. But, with the recent addition to the design team of Donna Kang, the collection had a new life and light that made for a super refreshing Spring 2014 presentation.

Call it a 'woman's touch', or maybe it's the time the trio spent in Indonesia recently soaking up local surf culture, but this Timo Weiland collection was the best we've seen in many seasons.

The women's pieces were sporty, and simple with details such as mesh inserts and contrasting patterns used sparingly, and thoughtfully. While the men's side was all about cool, relaxed style that was well tailored, but never 'trying to hard.'

And, as the show reached its completion, it was clear industry insiders have really begun to stand up and pay attention to Timo Weiland, including Supermodel Linda Evangelista who was seated in the front row at the show, and who very patiently posed with numerous fans before leaving.
