Tokyo: Yoshio Kubo Spring 2016

Driftwood and broken chandeliers littered the runway as if washed up on the beach in some remote locale setting the scene for an exotic and highly dramatic Yoshio Kubo Spring 2016 runway show. The pieces themselves were a mash-up of "vintage modern," as the jacket on one of the models read, that used retro-inspired prints in faded primary hues and clean modern silhouettes accented by elaborate head scarves. The overall effect was explosive and invigorating to watch, and made it very lear why the label is so hugely popular in Japan.
