“We’re walking in clouds” was the refrain repeated over and over again during the celestial inspired Helmstedt Spring 2024 runway show. The clouds, which appeared in prints, beadwork and in the staging itself, made for a dreamy backdrop for designer Emilie Helmstedt’s cozy dresses, separates, and robe like cloaks. The entire collection succinctly illustrated the designer’s sleepwear as daywear aesthetic that has made her a one-to-watch at Copenhagen Fashion Week since her debut collection. Will the pieces be a tough sell to more conservative customers? Maybe, but who wouldn’t want to wear a cloud covered robe to the office if they could get away with it?
