One of the most buzzed-about shows of the week (due in part to their showing during Milan fashion week on special invitation of Georgio Armani himself), the Motoguo Fall 2017 show lived up to its wild reputation. The looks, titled "Strawberry Fields Forever and Ever", were surrealist fashion at its most provocative, combining childhood elements with unusual details and gender-bending silhouettes. Nothing was off the table here, diaper-like shorts with blankie backpacks for men, and hugely voluminous calf-length onesies for women played a part as did a wild variety of separates that had a strong cartoon vibe. Granted, not everything was wearable, at least not for most mainstream customers, but it was definitely inventive, and definitely recalled the best of Tokyo Fashion Weeks past, where creativity and risk taking ruled the day.
