New York: Backstage at KYE Fall 2015

Designer Katheen Kye, and her label KYE have been on Style Wylde's radar since her Fall 2011 Men's collection, that exploded on to the New York runways with crazy silhouettes and bold graphics. So for Fall 2015, when I was invited backstage to get a look at the prep being done for her latests offering I jumped at the chance.

The beauty look for the show was, according to Shiseido Artistic Director and celebrity make-up guru Dick Page, "a bit sporty and collegiate looking,   So I created a look that was young and a little rock-and-roll. The blacks and reds in the collection inspired the black eyeliner and red lip in this look."

The official list of products used to create the look, given to me by Shiseido included:

Eye: Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil in Black (BK901) was applied in a solid line which was then smudged and diffused with Shimmering Cream Eye Color in Caviar (BK912). Then, Automatic Eyeliner in Black (BK901) was layered on top to finish the eyes.

Lip: Lacquer Rouge in Drama (RD501) and Lacquer Rouge in Sanguine (RD314) were mixed together and loaded heavily onto the lips, then immediately blotted with a flat tissue to break down the color. This application process kept the red lip from looking too glamorous and to ensure the models still looked young. Lastly, a bit of Lacquer Rouge in Drama (RD501) was dabbed onto the bottom lip to complete the look.

Face: Concealer and foundation were applied very minimally as needed, using the NEW Perfecting Stick Concealer and Sheer and Perfect Foundation SPF 18.

The overall effect, was really just classically gorgeous with pretty skin (both men and women were given the once over by Dick and his crew)  and that stunning bold red lip. It was definitely one for the "YES! we want to do this at home" category.

Hair and nails on the hand, were a little bit more wacky. On women, enormous sections of hair were added for a sexy, roughed up look, while men were given the Robert Pattison treatment via plenty of sculpting product. Nails on women, were specially crafted for the show with graphics from the collection on every finger.

Sound fun? It was! Here are a few of my favorite shots taken backstage at the show. (Click on any image below to launch light box mode for best viewing.)
